All about the Open Graph protocol and social markup
The Open Graph (OG) protocol was developed by Facebook so that any web page could become a full object in the social graph. Today this standard is supported by almost all platforms: from messengers (Telegram, WhatsApp) to professional networks like LinkedIn.
Setting up og:title, og:image, and og:description correctly is a basic step in on-page SEO. A good-looking snippet builds user trust, lowers bounce rate, and increases viral reach. Twitter uses its own format — Twitter Cards (twitter:card) — but our generator produces a universal set of meta tags that meets the requirements of all major platforms at once.
Frequently asked questions
- What image size is best for Open Graph?
- The recommended size for universal display on most social networks is 1200 × 630 pixels. Aspect ratio should be 1.91:1. Keep image size under 5 MB.
- What's the difference between Open Graph and Twitter Card?
- Open Graph is an open standard used by Facebook, LinkedIn, Telegram, and others. Twitter Cards are specific to X (Twitter). If Twitter doesn't find its own tags, it can use Open Graph tags as a fallback. Best practice is to use both.
- Why doesn't Facebook update my image after I changed the tags?
- Social networks cache link data. If you updated the image on your site, you need to clear the cache. For Facebook use the official Sharing Debugger; for Telegram use the @WebpageBot.
- Do you store the links and data I enter?
- No. The visualizer processes data 100% locally on your device. We do not collect your check history.
